The Spineport Vermintide – a Skaven Blood Bowl Team (Second Edition)

The Spineport Vermintide are my first attempt at a second edition Skaven Blood Bowl team, Sculpted in the 80’s by Jes Goodwin.

Over the last couple of years I have developed a bit of an obsession for original 1980’s Blood Bowl teams. What started with a set of second-hand Dwarves from EBay has progressed to nice little collection of six teams. All are original second edition. Some even have the odd star player for good measure. Soon there will be enough for a mini league of my own. I’m hoping to be able to field a team from each of the races. As it stands I currently have Dwarves, Elves, Humans, Orcs, Dark Elves and Skaven. Next up possibly Halflings or undead depending on availability (second edition teams can be few and far between…).

The Vermintide were created a few months ago when I purchased a full team of gorgeous second edition Jes Goodwin Skaven. The sculpts are one of the standout teams of second edition, along with the elves (more of Mr Goodwins finest).

I started with some basic research of the Skaven Clans and came across a nice bit of work on whfb.lexicanum.com that detailed the background of a number of clans eg: who led them, their domain, the clans speciality. After a bit of a read I settled on Clan Skurvy, Skaven pirates from Spineport.

Colours for Clan Skurvy were Yellow and Black which suited well as I didn’t have another team in my collection who’s kit was predominantly yellow.

The Line up

The Vermintide were purchased as a full team, like my Creeveland Cresents, rather than a bunch of individual buys from EBay. For this reason I basically only had available what came in the box.
